Customers and AI assistants both lean on directories such as Yell, Tripadvisor, Checkatrade, Rightmove and the CQC register. Kerbrank checks the ones that matter for your kind of business and shows the results on the UK directories panel of your business's Insights tab.
Each row says when that directory was last checked. Directories are checked about once a month, so the date can be earlier than your latest reading.
The statuses
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Listed | We found your page and it's yours: it has your name, and your postcode or phone where the page shows them. Or your own Google profile or website links to it. | Nothing. Open the page now and then to check your details. |
| Details differ | We found your page, but something on it, such as the postcode or phone, doesn't match your Google profile. | Open the page and correct it, so customers and Google see the same details everywhere. |
| Unconfirmed | We found a page that might be yours, but what it shows isn't enough to tell it belongs to this branch. A postcode can be shared by several businesses, so a similar name at your postcode isn't proof on its own. | Search the directory for your business. If the page is yours, link to it from your Google Business Profile or your website and Kerbrank will count it as Listed. |
| Not found in our search | Our search of that directory didn't return a page of yours. That isn't proof you're not listed: search engines don't show every page. | Use Check your listing to look on the directory itself. If you're there, nothing is wrong. |
| Couldn't check | The search didn't give a usable answer this time, for example when the search engine returned an error. We say nothing either way. | Nothing. It's tried again at your next reading. |
| Check yourself | We can't see this directory from outside, so we can't check it for you. | Look it up on the directory's own site. |
| Not needed | You're already on a directory that does the same job, such as a second booking site. | Nothing. |
| Not checked yet | That directory hasn't been checked for this business yet. | Wait for the next check. |
Why "not found" isn't proof
We find your directory pages by searching for them, the same way you would on Google. Some real pages simply don't come up in a search. A big chain's branch pages can be crowded out by its other branches, for example. So when a search finds nothing, Kerbrank says exactly that, never that you aren't listed. A search that found nothing never becomes a job telling you to sign up. If ChatGPT keeps citing a directory we haven't confirmed you on, your job list asks you to check whether you're there, not to join.
If a page we couldn't find is yours, the quickest fix is to link to it from your Google Business Profile or your website. Once your own profile or website points to the page, Kerbrank counts it as Listed.
Registers are different
Some rows are official registers rather than directories, such as the CQC register for care and health providers. You can't sign up to a register, so Kerbrank never suggests joining one. When we find your entry, you can open it from the row and check that the name, address and rating are right.
How we avoid the wrong page
A directory page counts as yours only when it carries your name, plus your postcode or phone where the page shows them. A page for another branch of the same business, a list of several businesses, or an advert never counts as yours, even if the name is close.
