Getting started

What Kerbrank does and how to set it up.

What does Kerbrank do?

Kerbrank shows where your business appears on Google Maps across the whole area you serve, checks whether ChatGPT recommends you, and gives you a short, plain-English list of what to fix next. It runs every week by itself.

See what the report shows

How long does it take to set up?

About five minutes. Type your business name or postcode, draw the area you serve and tick your searches. Before the first reading starts, the app shows how long it should take.

Guide: getting started

Which searches does Kerbrank track?

When you add a business, Kerbrank suggests the searches people nearby actually type, with monthly search numbers for your town. You tick the ones you want and can change them at any time. Solo tracks 10, Pro 25 per business, Agency 50 and Agency+ 100.

Guide: choosing searches

Are the monthly search numbers exact?

They are Google Ads averages for your town, the same figures Google's Keyword Planner gives. Google rounds small counts into bands of 10, 20, 30 and so on, so ~10 or ~20 means a handful of searches a month, not an exact count. Each figure counts the search as typed plus its “near me” and town-name versions. Use them to compare searches, not as a visitor forecast.

Guide: choosing searches

Do I need to connect my Google account?

You don't have to. Everything in the report works without connecting Google. If you choose to connect Search Console or your Business Profile, Kerbrank reads from them to improve the report, and you can disconnect at any time. We never change your Business Profile on our own: posts go out only when you press Publish or schedule them.

What we store

Is Kerbrank only for the UK?

Kerbrank is built for businesses in the UK, including Northern Ireland: prices in pounds, UK postcodes, +44 phone numbers, UK bank holiday reminders and map spacing sized for British towns. It isn't set up for businesses outside the UK, including the Republic of Ireland.

How we compare

Does it work if my business has no public address?

Kerbrank measures the area you serve, but businesses that hide their address on Google can behave differently. Send us a message before you start and we'll tell you how well it will work for you.

Ask us first

What languages is Kerbrank in?

Kerbrank and its reports are in British English.

Back to the homepage

Can I add team members?

Each account has one login for now. Clients don't need a login: share their report link or a PDF.

Guide: sharing reports

How is Kerbrank different from BrightLocal or Local Falcon?

Kerbrank is priced in pounds with no credits, checks ChatGPT on every plan, leaves spots with no postcode nearby, usually sea, a harbour or open land, out of your score, and checks on the next scan that each fix is still in place. Where others do more, such as bigger maps, our comparison says so.

See the side-by-side

Will you do the SEO work for me?

Kerbrank is software, not an agency: it tells you what to change and checks each change was made. Many jobs take minutes. If you'd rather someone did them, the fix list is written so you can pass it straight to your agency or web person.

Plans and billing

Prices, the trial, paying and cancelling.

How much does Kerbrank cost?

Solo is £29 a month for one business, Pro is £59 for three with reports in your own brand, Agency is £129 for ten and Agency+ is £259 for twenty-five. Pay yearly and you pay for ten months instead of twelve, so Solo is £290 a year. Prices are in pounds, carry no VAT, and there are no credits.

Compare every plan

Is there a free trial?

Every account starts with 14 days free and you don't need a card. The trial runs on the Solo plan: one business at a time, 10 searches and maps up to 11 × 11. You can swap the business for a different one once. Scans, reports and the weekly readings all work as normal.

Start your free trial

What happens when the trial ends?

When the 14 days are up, scans stop and nothing is charged, because no card was taken. Your reports and history are kept, and you can choose a plan to carry on.

See the plans

Are there credits or extra charges?

No credits and no per-scan charges. You pay one flat price, monthly or yearly, for a set number of businesses and searches. Weekly scans are included, so nothing runs out halfway through the month.

See what each plan includes

Which plan should I choose?

One business with up to 10 searches: Solo. More searches for one business (up to 25), two or three businesses, or you want reports in your own brand: Pro. Looking after up to ten clients: Agency, and up to twenty-five: Agency+. You can change plan later.

Compare plans

Does Kerbrank work for agencies with several clients?

Agency covers 10 businesses and Agency+ covers 25, grouped by client. Each gets its own weekly map, fix list and a report in your brand. Freelancers with a few clients usually start on Pro.

See agency plans

Can I send reports to my clients?

Every business has a report link you can share, and it prints to PDF. On Pro and above, reports carry your name, colour and logo instead of ours.

Guide: sharing reports

How big can the map be?

Solo maps go up to 11 × 11 points, Pro up to 13 × 13, and Agency and Agency+ up to 15 × 15. You choose the shape and spacing when you draw the area you serve.

Compare plans

Is there an annual plan or discount?

Yes. Pay yearly and you pay for ten months instead of twelve: Solo is £290 a year, Pro £590, Agency £1,290 and Agency+ £2,590. Pick yearly when you choose a plan. There are no other discounts, but if you have a question about pricing, send us a message.

See yearly prices

Can I downgrade or change my plan?

Yes, any time, from Plan and billing on your Account page. Stripe works out the part-period and shows you the amount before anything is charged, and the change takes effect straight away. If the smaller plan covers fewer businesses, the extras are paused, not deleted, and you choose which stay active.

Pricing questions

How can I pay?

By card, through Stripe’s secure checkout; we never see your card details. The free trial doesn't need a card at all. For anything else about paying, send us a message.

Ask about billing

Do prices include VAT, and do I get an invoice?

Kerbrank is not registered for VAT, so the prices you see are what you pay and no VAT is added or shown. Stripe emails a receipt for every payment, and every invoice is in your Stripe billing portal under Account. If we register for VAT later we will tell you before it affects what you pay.

Read the terms

Can I cancel at any time?

You can cancel at any time, from Plan and billing on your Account page. Your plan stays active until the end of the month, or the year, you've paid for, and isn't renewed after that. If it's within 30 days of your first payment, you can have the unused part back instead: ask under Refunds. During the free trial no card is taken, so there's nothing to cancel.

Read the terms

Do you give refunds?

Yes. Ask within 30 days of your first payment and we refund the part you haven't used, with no reason needed. Your payment covers 5 readings a month for each business (4 weekly readings and 1 Scan now), or 64 for a year, and the share not yet used comes back as a percentage of what you paid. A reading that fails or is cut short never counts against you. On a yearly plan, Stripe's card fee for that payment is taken off. The Refunds box on your Account page shows the exact figure, and the plan ends when the refund is made. Forgot to cancel? If a renewal goes through and no reading has run since, ask within 7 days and you get all of it back. Otherwise you can cancel whenever you like, and the plan runs to the end of the month, or the year, you've paid for. If something went wrong on our side, such as a long outage or a charge made by mistake, send us a message and we'll put it right, which may include a refund.

How many times can I press Scan now?

Every business gets a reading automatically every 7 days. Scan now takes one straight away; the app shows how long it should take before it starts. Each plan has one Scan now a month for each business it covers, shared across your account: 1 on Solo, 3 on Pro, 10 on Agency and 25 on Agency+, and 1 during the free trial. One that fails or is cut short doesn’t count, and they come back on your billing date each month. A business with a very big map uses more than one. Your Account page shows how many are left, and Scan now costs nothing extra.

Your map and report

How the scans work and how to read them.

What is a map grid scan?

Google shows different results depending on where the searcher is standing. Kerbrank runs the same search from a grid of real points across your area and records where you appear at each one, so you see a map of where customers can and can't find you, not one number from one spot.

How we measure

How often are scans run?

Every business is scanned automatically once a week, and you can see how things changed since the last reading. You don't have to press anything.

Guide: reading your map

How accurate are the results?

Each point is a real Google Maps search from that location. If a point returns nothing, we show it as missing rather than as a bad ranking, and a website we can't load is reported as unknown. The full method is published so you can check how every number is worked out.

Read the method

Why does my own Google search show something different?

Google shapes its results for whoever is searching. Where you're standing counts most, then what you've searched before and whether you're signed in. On your own phone you're often at the premises, where most businesses rank best, and Google knows the listing is yours. Kerbrank searches from every spot on your map as a new visitor, not signed in and with no history, the same way every week, so each reading compares fairly with the last. To see roughly what a customer sees, open a private window and search from where they would be.

How we measure

What do the colours on my map mean?

Each circle is where you appear in Google Maps for someone searching from that spot. Mint green is the top three, lime 4 to 9, gold 10 to 16 and orange 17 to 20. A dark circle marked 21+ means you weren't in the top 20 there. Striped or marked ? means Google didn't answer for that spot, so it isn't counted. Spots with no postcode nearby (usually sea or open land) and spots outside the area you drew are left out. There is no red: lots of orange and dark circles means customers there mostly can't find you yet, and your fix list says what to change first.

Guide: reading your map

What does 21+ mean on my map?

21+ means you weren't in the top 20 Google Maps results for someone searching from that spot. We check the top 20, so anything lower shows as 21+, or as a dash on the smaller maps. In your average position each 21+ spot counts as 21, so a patchy map never looks better than it is.

Guide: reading your map

What does top-three share mean?

It's the share of points on your map where you appear in the Google Maps top three for that search. That is not quite the box of three businesses on a normal Google search (the local pack), though the two often agree, and every figure says which one it measured.

How each number works

How is average position worked out?

We average your position across every point. Anywhere you don't appear in the top 20 counts as 21, so a patchy result never looks better than it is.

How each number works

What about businesses by the sea?

Map spots with no postcode nearby, usually sea, a harbour or open land, are left out of every score, so nobody is marked down for not ranking in the Solent. If the postcode lookup is down, every spot is searched.

How we measure

Can I change my map area later?

Open the business and press Change the area, on its Map view or in Settings. You can move or redraw the shape, change the spacing and switch single points off, then press Save map. Your earlier scans stay. The next reading measures the new area, but it isn't compared with readings of the old one, because they measured different places.

Guide: reading your map

How does the ChatGPT check work?

Kerbrank asks ChatGPT 8 to 12 of the questions your customers ask, three times each, and counts how often you're recommended. The number is the same on every plan. You also see which businesses and websites it names instead, week by week.

See what the report shows

Can I see my competitors?

The report shows everyone who appears on your map, with their reviews, photos and categories, and who holds each spot on your grid.

Guide: competitors

Does Kerbrank track Bing or Apple Maps?

Kerbrank checks Google Maps and ChatGPT. It doesn't track Bing or Apple Maps.

How we measure

Can I export my data?

Every report has a share link and prints to PDF. There's no spreadsheet export or API yet; if you need one, tell us what for.

The fix list

The jobs each reading gives you, and what to expect.

What is the fix list?

Every finding says what to change, where and roughly how long it takes, most useful first. Tick a job off when it's done and the next weekly scan looks for the problem again and says what it found. Whether your map moved takes a few readings to tell, and a move on its own doesn't prove which job caused it.

Guide: the job list

What are the bank holiday reminders?

Before each UK bank holiday, Kerbrank reminds you to set special opening hours on Google. Customers who turn up to find you shut sometimes leave an annoyed review.

Guide: the job list

How do I get more Google reviews?

Send customers a direct review link soon after the job, ask in person, and make it easy on a phone. Our guide has a message you can copy and Google's rules on what you can and can't do.

Guide: getting more reviews

How long until my ranking improves?

It depends on the job. Fixing a category or opening hours can show within a few weekly readings; reviews and website changes take longer. Kerbrank can't promise a ranking. When you tick a job done, the next scan checks it again and shows what changed. Whether your rankings moved, and what caused a move, are separate questions.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account, then Close account, and confirm with your password. Any paid plan ends straight away, not at the end of the period you’ve paid for, and the rest of the period isn’t refunded. To keep using it until then, cancel your plan instead and close the account later. Scans stop, and your data is deleted 14 days later. Changed your mind? Sign in before then and press Keep my account. Billing records stay with Stripe, as the law requires.

My scan failed. What should I do?

Press Scan now to run it again; that usually works. A scan that fails doesn't use one of your Scan now readings, and nothing is saved from it, so your last report still stands. If it says we couldn't find your Google listing, check the listing is still live first. If it keeps failing, send us a message and we'll look into it.

Send us a message

My scan didn't finish. What happened?

How long a scan takes depends on your map, your searches and how busy Google’s queue is, and the app shows its estimate before it starts. A big map with many searches can take an hour or more. If you started it with Scan now and leave the page, we email you when it's done or if it stops. A scan that stops partway saves nothing and doesn't use one of your Scan now readings, so press Scan now to run it again. Still stuck after an hour? Send us a message.
