Competitors: the businesses that show up most across your map, with their share, rating and reviews
From Kerbrank, on a made-up business.

The right local rank tracker depends on how many locations you track, how often you scan and what else you want from the tool. Short version: BrightLocal for breadth, Local Falcon for the biggest grids, Whitespark for citations, Semrush if you already use it, Localo for profile upkeep, Kerbrank for flat pricing in pounds.

A plain disclosure: we make Kerbrank, one of the six tools below. Everything we say about the other five comes from their own websites, read on 5 October 2026, and where their pages didn't tell us something, we say so instead of guessing. Prices change often, so check each one before you buy.

The trackers, one by one

BrightLocal

BrightLocal is a full local SEO suite: rank tracking, a geo-grid called Local Search Grid, citation building, review management and audits. It suits agencies and owners who want most of their local work in one login.

It charges in US dollars on monthly or annual plans. Its entry plan, Track, was $41 a month billed monthly, or $31 a month billed annually (checked 5 October 2026). The grid covers up to five keywords on that plan, and it includes a Local AI Visibility Tracker that looks at ChatGPT and Google's AI answers.

Where it is stronger: breadth. It builds citations and manages reviews, which most rank trackers don't. The limitation: you pay in dollars for a bundle, and five grid keywords on the entry plan can feel tight if you mainly want maps. Our Kerbrank vs BrightLocal page goes row by row.

Local Falcon

Local Falcon is a specialist geo-grid tracker. It suits agencies who want large or detailed grids, and anyone who scans now and then rather than every week.

Plans are in US dollars and give you credits, where one credit is one point on the map. The Starter plan was $24.99 a month (checked 5 October 2026). Its largest grid is 21×21, which is 441 points, bigger than anything else here. It also tracks Apple Maps alongside Google, and its AI visibility pages list ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews.

The limitation is the credit arithmetic. One scan of one search on a 7×7 grid uses 49 credits, so weekly scans of many searches need a bigger plan. See Kerbrank vs Local Falcon for how credits compare with a flat price. Both comparisons are summarised on one page at compare local rank trackers.

Whitespark

Whitespark is known for citation work. Its Local Rank Tracker follows rankings in the local pack, Google Maps and organic results, on desktop and mobile, and includes Bing. It is a keyword tracker, not a grid. For grids there is a separate product, Local Ranking Grids, which uses credits (one per grid point) and supports 4 to 225 points.

Both are priced in US dollars. Local Rank Tracker plans started at $14 a month (checked 5 October 2026), depending on keywords, how often it checks and whether you pay yearly. Whitespark also sells the Local Citation Finder and a listings service for building and cleaning up citations, which is where it stands out.

Limitation: grids and keyword tracking are separate products, billed separately. We didn't find a check of AI assistant answers on the pages we read (the grid product connects to your own AI tools instead), so check their site.

Localo

Localo is a Google Business Profile tool with a rank tracker built in. It suits owners and freelancers who want help posting updates, handling reviews and listing in directories, with rankings alongside.

Its Position Map is a geo-grid of 9 to 49 points (3×3 to 7×7) covering 1 to 50 km, with weekly updates. The pricing page showed dollar prices plus VAT, per profile: the Single Business plan was $39 a month billed annually (checked 5 October 2026).

Limitation: the grid tops out at 49 points, which is fine for one neighbourhood and thin for a wide service area. Its AI features help write content and answer questions; we didn't find a tracker that checks whether ChatGPT recommends you, so check their site.

Semrush Local (Map Rank Tracker)

Semrush is a large SEO platform, and Semrush Local is its local toolkit, which you can buy alone or add to an existing subscription. It suits teams who already use Semrush.

It is priced in US dollars per location per month. Local Base was $30 per location a month and includes 375 Map Rank Tracker credits (checked 5 October 2026). Semrush's Map Rank Tracker help page says one map pin costs one credit, so a 5×5 grid is 25 credits per keyword. AI tracking sits in a separate AI Visibility toolkit, at $99 a month (checked 5 October 2026), which covers ChatGPT and Google AI Mode.

Limitation: per-location pricing and credits add up across several sites, and AI tracking is an extra toolkit. We couldn't confirm the largest grid size, so check their site.

Kerbrank

Kerbrank is ours: a UK-built tracker for small businesses and small agencies. It maps Google Maps rankings on a grid of 3×3 up to 15×15 points, leaves out spots with no postcode nearby (usually sea), asks ChatGPT customer-style questions and turns what it finds into a ranked fix list.

It is priced in pounds, flat monthly, no credits: Solo is £29 a month for one location and 10 searches, with weekly scans on every plan. The full plans go up to 25 locations. There is a 14-day trial with no card.

Competitors: the businesses that show up most across your map, with their share, rating and reviews
The competitors view: who holds the top three across the map, with their reviews and photos.

Where others do more: Kerbrank checks Google Maps and ChatGPT only, with no Apple Maps or other assistants. It doesn't build citations or manage reviews, its largest grid is smaller than Local Falcon's, and it is new, with a shorter track record than anyone else here.

How to choose

Count your locations

With one location and a few searches, almost any tool here works. With several, per-location pricing (Semrush, Localo) and per-point credits (Local Falcon, Whitespark grids) need working out first: multiply locations by searches by grid points by scans a month.

Match the grid to your area

UK towns are compact. A 7×7 grid covers most single-town businesses if the spacing is right. Larger grids help across a county or a big city. Once a map shows your gaps, how to rank higher on Google Maps covers what to do next.

Owner or agency

Owners mostly need a clear weekly picture and a short list of what to fix. Agencies need branded client reports and room for many locations. Our local SEO report post sets out what a client report should contain.

Pounds or dollars

Five of these six show prices in US dollars, so the cost in pounds moves with the exchange rate. If a fixed bill in pounds matters, that narrows the field.

Credits or flat price

Credits suit occasional checks, such as sizing up a prospect. A flat price suits the same maps every week, because you never have to ration scans.

Whichever you pick, try it on your own business first. Kerbrank's free local rank checker shows a quick map, and most of the others offer a trial.

Common questions

What is the best local rank tracker in the UK?

There isn't one. BrightLocal suits a broad local SEO kit, Local Falcon suits large grids, and Kerbrank suits weekly maps on a flat price in pounds. Pick on locations, grid size and budget.

Do I need geo-grid tracking or is a keyword tracker enough?

Google says distance is one of the three main factors in local ranking, with relevance and prominence, so your position changes depending on where the searcher stands. A grid shows that. A single-point keyword tracker shows one spot.

Which local rank trackers check ChatGPT?

From their own pages: BrightLocal, Local Falcon and Kerbrank check it. Semrush covers it in a separate AI Visibility toolkit. We didn't find an equivalent check for Whitespark or Localo.

Can I use two tools at once?

Yes, for example one for citations and another for weekly maps. Expect the numbers to differ slightly, since tools search from different points at different times.
